Mary Pat Palmer, MA, RH, was co-founder of the Boston School of Herbal Energetics
and editor of the Journal of the Northeast Herbal Association and Vice President of that organization. She moved herself
and her school to Northern California in 2002.
The school offers apprenticeships, classes, internships and more. In
addition, Mary Pat offers herbal consults, in all areas, particularly with cancer. She has studied with world famous
herbalists, written extensively and done research in Cuba and Peru as well as the U.S. The Philo School library has an extensive
collection of books on herbalism for students to use.
Mary Pat has been an herbalist and organic gardener for about 40 years. Her gardening
emphasis is on medicinal herbs and she has over 100 species of medicinal herbs in the gardens. She also grows vegetables,
ornamentals and she has orchards of fruit trees. Her Philo gardens are extensive and beautiful.
Ryan Drum, PhD, RH
Ryan Drum has been a practicing medical herbalist inn private and clinical
practice for over 30 years, specializing in seaweed therapies, men's health issues, and thyroid problems.
He currently is a community-supported herbalist on an isolated island in Washington
State, where he lives in a hilltop cabin he built.
Whilst becoming an herbalist, he has been mostly living on a rustic homestead
, off the grid, without indoor plumbing since 1976.
He is the proud father of three and grandfather of two.
He believes in true patient autonomy, the inherent right to freely choose one's
caregivers without regard to professional qualifications or lack thereof.

Here’s Mary Pat with Matthew Wood, MSc, AHG who teaches the Intermediate/Advanced Apprenticeships.
Matthew is the author of many books, to include Seven Herbs, Plants as Teachers,(1987), Vitalism, The History of Herbalism,
Homeopathy and Flower Essences (1993), The Book of Herbal Wisdom (1998), and The Practice of Traditional Western Herbalism
(2004).
Matthew has been a practicing herbalist since 1982 and is an active practitioner of traditional Western herbalism.
He has helped tens of thousands of clients over the years with their many difficult health problems. He has his Masters
of Science from the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine

Pam Montgomery
Pam Montgomery received training from Empire State College in Alternative Health Education. She is the originator of Green Terrestrial Herbal Products of Vermont and was one of the founding members
of the Northeast Herbal Association where she served as their president for four years. For a decade, Pam was on the Executive
Council of the Board of Directors of United Plant Savers, an organization dedicated to preservation of our native medicinal
plants. Pam has been organizing the Green Nations Gathering for the past seventeen
years and presented the Spirit Healing conference for the first time in 2005. She
teaches workshops internationally on herbal medicine, Plant Spirit Healing, and spiritual ecology. Pam is the author of Partner Earth; A Spiritual Ecology published by Inner Traditions and a contributing
author in Planting the Future. Her new
book, Plant Spirit Healing, A Guide to Working with Plant Consciousness, is at the publishers now!
